John's family has been in California construction, investments and development since 1918. He started in construction while at Hamilton High School and development while in college. After USC he started building and selling single family houses in Carlsbad, followed by shopping centers in El Cajon, Upland, and Joint Venture Housing in Inland Oceanside. He has leased, built and sold buildings to Vons Markets, Longs and Thrifty Drug Stores, Bank of America, Union 76, and many other Satellite Stores.

His biggest San Diego County project was the land acquisition, processing and development of North Coast Village, 550 units on the beach adjacent to the Oceanside Redevelopment Agency, Planning and City Council, The Coastal Commission, State and Federal Fish and Game Agencies, and Army Corp of Engineers.

In Los Angeles, he assembled two full city blocks north of LAX followed by the sale of the sites for Ralph's Super Market, Wells Fargo, Starbucks, Petco, In & Out Burger drive thru, and the Parking Spot Garage. While Working in Westchester, he served as Co-Chairman of Mayor Bradley's Committee for the Vitalization of Westchester and its Town Hall.

He still hits the beach weekly for beach volley ball and to keep in contact with his friends, old and new.
